San Francisco, August 11, 2048.
The citizens and tourists in San Francisco were going about their business when phones began to buzz and send out alerts for everybody to take shelter wherever they happened to be. The sky slowly grew dark and ominous, even in the previously bright afternoon sunlight. Panic overtook the people and they began to crowd and run for whatever shelter they could find. Squeezing into nearby hotels and tourist attractions, the people who managed to hide could hear otherworldly howls and the screams of those less fortunate than themselves.
It was The End. Moribund, it would later be called. The day when life forever changed for those within the bounds of San Francisco.
There was no way out. After the screams and howls subsided, those still living found themselves unable to find any exits. They weren’t blocked in by military, either. There simply was no way out. Leaving was impossible but nobody knew why.
